JOB - Design Manager
LOCATION - Oxfordshire
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - £50,000 to £65,000 per annum (plus benefits)
Premier Engineering is working with a well-established engineering company based in Oxfordshire that is looking to hire a Design Manager to lead their design team and oversee the development of innovative engineering solutions.
The Design Manager will ideally have the following attributes:
* A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
* Proven experience in a design management or senior design engineering role.
* Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD).
* Experience with manufacturing processes, including fabrication, machining, and sheet metal.
* Ability to lead and mentor a team of design engineers, fostering professional growth and development.
* Excellent project management skills, with experience overseeing multiple design projects from concept to completion.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality designs.
* Good communication skills to liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
* Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
The Design Manager role will involve:
* Leading and managing the design team to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
* Overseeing the development of 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
* Ensuring all designs meet industry standards, manufacturing requirements, and customer specifications.
* Managing project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation within the design department.
* Providing technical guidance and expertise to resolve complex design challenges.
* Collaborating with other departments, including production, R&D, and sales, to align design goals with business objectives.
* Driving innovation and continuous improvement within the design function.
* Conducting design reviews and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Staying up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in design engineering.
