Our client has an immediate requirement for a Project Engineer to join their team in Manchester.
The role is to coordinate and manage internal Support Functions and sub-contract Supply Chain partners in the multi-disciplined portfolio of work with United Utilities/Severn Trent Water.
The role supports the project delivery teams by managing concept development and detailed design solutions based on client and site-specific requirements for water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities for a Project Engineer will include:
1. Attend site meetings and client meetings
2. Coordinate the Design through the ECI Phase working with the Project Manager
3. Participate in VE, R&O and feasibility studies
4. Meet Stakeholders
5. Assist in writing ITTs - ensuring correct scope is included for each partner
6. Work with the Estimating Team throughout phases
7. Coordinate multidiscipline supply chain and Designers - working with PMs & M&E support
8. Issue draft drawings internally and to clients
9. Attend design meetings with clients and internally
10. Document control - Asite, Sharepoint etc
11. Help transition from ECI & Detailed Design Phase to project delivery team
12. Input to procurement schedule
13. Coordinate the technical query process
14. Ensure delivery teams are aware of Handover requirements and preparation for this
15. Ensure commissioning plan is in place and understood
16. Collate and coordinate H&S file
17. Support the Delivery Team in achieving Handover
18. Effectively coordinate issuing of all documents required for Completion
19. Coordinate uploading documentation required for Handover
20. Attend post-project review meetings
Requirements for a Project Engineer:
The successful candidate will need experience in a Civils background with MEICA & Water experience preferable and is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
Essential:
1. Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, Design Management, Programme & Risk Management
2. Planning experience using Primavera P6 software or equivalent
3. Proficient with IT, specifically full Office 365 suite - CAD software experience or similar
4. CSCS manager's card
5. Good level of document control and administrative duties
6. Self-driven with a “can do” attitude
7. Excellent communication, people and team management skills, with the ability to influence and motivate
8. Ability to challenge issues and resolve problems to a conclusion
9. Problem-solving and analytical thinking
Qualifications:
1. Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
2. Relevant CSCS Card (Either Experienced Technical Supervisor, Supervisory, Professionally Qualified Person, or Manager)
3. Two years + experience working in some capacity as Management for a Civil Engineering project
4. Familiar with programme management and maintenance
5. Ability to communicate internally and externally at all levels
6. Knowledge of health and safety legislation regarding safe work practices
