Strategy Delivery Manager (Estate)

The Science Museum Group (SMG) is the largest and most complex museum estate in the country which also houses a scientific collection of international significance. The SMG Estate team has responsibility for ensuring that all sites meet their legislative and operational requirements, are consistently well maintained, efficiently run and capable of delivering an excellent experience to staff, volunteers and visitors.
'Resilience' and 'Sustainability' are two of SMG's strategic objectives which link directly to the estate. A new, 10-year estate strategy has also been approved in 2024 which sets out four key areas of development. These are designed to ensure our portfolio of estate assets are; professionally managed, efficiently operated, intelligently controlled and sustainable, both financially and environmentally.
We are recruiting for a Strategy Delivery Manager to join on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week, on a fixed-term contract until April 2026. This role can be based at any of the following SMG sites (with hybrid working available): National Railway Museum in York, Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, Science Museum in London or the Science and Innovation Park in Wroughton, Swindon.
About the role
As Strategy Delivery Manager you will make a substantial contribution towards delivering the new estate strategy by creating and maintaining action plans and timetables that support the implementation. You will monitor activity status, produce trackers, check progress, report and escalate on all aspects of the estate strategy and the work of the department as appropriate.
You will be a key point of contact and will liaise closely with team members and action owners to ensure work is being undertaken and progressed tracked. You will also work with other departments to help integrate the estate strategy with their work and priorities, whilst promoting the work of the strategy so that the estate department and its work is well understood by others.
You will create and implement standardised procedures within a 'playbook' that will streamline operations and drive consistency across all our estate activities. You will lead improvement initiatives and training others on process improvements with the goal of increasing the impact of the department and it's enhancing its effectiveness.
About you
Joining us, you will have demonstrable experience of delivering business change, preferably within large, complex organisations or public bodies. You will be able to work well, lead and communicate effectively with others with the ability to influence stakeholders, subject specialists and external consultants or contractors. You will have good organisational skills and be capable of managing a programme of planned, coordinated activities to deadlines.
Crucially, you will have experience of capturing and analysing performance data and using this inform decision making and validate the results of change in addition to experience of developing performance metrics, KPIs and SLAs.
