Job Purpose
We have an ambitious target to reduce leakage by 13% (12 Ml/d) over the next five year period and 50% (c.224 Ml/d) by 2050. The role of the Leakage Strategy Manager will be to lead and manage change initiatives and process improvement to drive us towards achieving these ambitious targets.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing a clear vision and roadmap for the organisation's leakage transformation. You will use your expertise to really drive change in our organisation, examining how we can drive innovation and use enhanced technology, process and data and to improve leakage management.
You will develop and own our Leakage Transformation programme that will set out our route to success and start with our Turnaround plan that will focus on PALM (Prevent, Aware, Locate, Mend) and the use of data from smarter networks for better accounting of water and more effective intervention strategies to reduce water loss.
You will own the leakage strategy that enables leakage performance commitments to be met and delivered most efficiently and effectively through sustainable leakage management.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Reporting directly to the Water Demand Director, you will provide visibility into overall leakage performance, drive the delivery of regulatory targets, and ensure the achievement of leakage performance commitments. You will challenge operational and technical performance to ensure desired outcomes while collaborating across teams and departments to lead transformation initiatives effectively.
* Develop and articulate a compelling vision for leakage transformation aligned with the organisation's long-term goals, including reducing leakage by 13% over the next five years and by 50% by 2050. Create a comprehensive transformation programme and roadmap to deliver leakage strategies, objectives, and targets.
* Lead the leakage transformation programme across various teams and directorates, from executive-level leadership to front-line operations. Direct leakage projects encompassing prevention, detection, and remediation techniques, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Drive innovation through adopting emerging technologies, data-driven insights, and continuous improvement strategies.
* Prioritise regional resources effectively to maximise the efficiency and impact of leakage management programmes. Oversee IT infrastructure and system optimisation to improve scalability, cost-effectiveness, and results. Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of transformation initiatives.
* Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities, scope requirements, and implement change across the organisation. Act as the single point of responsibility for leakage performance in AMP8, ensuring alignment across senior stakeholders and delivery partners. Provide expert technical guidance, manage cost centres and budgets, and navigate commercial landscapes to embed successful trials and innovative technologies into the organisation.
