This role is based in Warrington with a hybrid working pattern.
What you'll be doing
As a Buyer you will have the following responsibilities:
* Carry out the procurement process for procurement requirements in accordance with CSUK procurement & supply chain management strategy, under the supervision of the Senior Buyer in relation to the following:
o Preparation of request for proposals and quotations.
o Compilation of data relating supplier responses, highlighting inconsistencies and differences and presenting information to enable evaluation of responses.
o Carrying out supplier evaluations for designated procurement exercises.
o Conducting negotiations to enable the shortlisting of suppliers, for designated procurement exercises.
o Supporting final negotiations with selected suppliers.
o Preparing orders in accordance with CSUK procurement governance.
* Liaise with sites to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required.
* Provide regular reports on procurement and supplier performance.
* Monitor vendor database to ensure that it contains up to date details of available suppliers.
* Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value-adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge, and process efficiency.
* Establish performance led, long-term supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage for Balfour Beatty.
Who we're looking for
The following experience/qualifications are required:
* Highly results orientated (proven track record of exceeding targets).
* Problem solving skills, ability to use own initiative to identify areas of improvement & propose solutions.
* Able to prioritise with support a challenging workload of competing priorities.
* Good understanding of how to run end to end procurement projects from market research, through sourcing, to contract and supplier management.
* Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against bid / project milestones.
* Experience in negotiating commercial deals and contractual terms and conditions.
* Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
* Commercially and financially aware with well-developed negotiating skills.
* Thinks creatively and pragmatically to apply commercial good practice to solve business problems.
* Knowledge of the construction/civils market.
* Experience of Oracle R12 and Jaeger Bravo would be an advantage; MCIPS / studying towards CIPS / equivalent qualifications or experience.
