Workplan Delivery Manager (Transmission National Control Centre)
Location: Warwick, GB, CV34 6DA
Division: Network Control & Transformation
Job Type: Engineering
Requisition Number: 64145
Department: Electricity Transmission - Non-Operations
At National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET), we are passionate about both operating our network safely and providing a highly reliable quality of supply for our customers. At the heart of achieving these outcomes is effective management of our network. The way we operate it, the way we plan it, is key to delivering an increased workload as we accelerate towards Net Zero.
The Transmission Network Control Centre (TNCC) is on the front line of the electricity transmission system, ensuring safety and system security standards are maintained at all times.
As Workplan Delivery Manager, you’ll lead a multi-disciplined team managing the Week Ahead and Current Week Workplan Delivery through the National Electricity Transmission Control Room. This will include all transmission outages and Commissioning Switching Programmes to enable delivery of multi-million-pound capital scheme works.
You’ll take ownership of reducing plan churn, holding stakeholders to account for delivery commitments, whilst identifying issues before they impact on the business and developing and implementing solutions.
You’ll be based at our office in Warwick twice a week, with the option for hybrid working from home.
What you'll need
You’ll ideally have engineering knowledge and experience of operation of the transmission system and be capable of making operational decisions confidently and quickly, whilst maximising safe and efficient throughput. Strong organisational and planning skills, experience of data analysis, and developing and delivering performance-related measures from data sets are essential. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills are necessary, coupled with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across businesses. You’ll also have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make complex technical decisions within operational timescales. Experience acting as a stakeholder single point of leadership contact and leading a team to deliver successful insight is required, with an understanding of risk and controls to track and monitor these.
