Design Manager – Yorkshire Water Framework
Location: Wakefield
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Car
Anderselite are working with a regional civil engineering and utilities services company operating throughout Yorkshire and Humberside. Our client works with other companies ranging from private developers, local authorities, water companies, and blue-chip organizations to deliver first-class projects whilst maintaining excellent relationships with their clients.
We are recruiting for a Design Manager with a background in Civil Engineering to join our integrated team and lead the design of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects on our Yorkshire Water Framework from outline design through to detailed design, construction, and commissioning support.
Duties:
1. Responsible for the direct management of a small in-house team of designers, overseeing and developing design processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
2. Undertake the Principal Designer (CDM 2015) duties, embracing the importance of Health & Safety.
3. Perform and coordinate internal and external activities associated with civil and infrastructure design.
4. Manage and coordinate the preparation of design solutions, including drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates.
5. Coordinate a wide range of discipline inputs and manage client relationships.
6. Maintain communication with Project Managers and clients regarding project matters.
7. Contribute to the resolution of technical issues and provide guidance to team members.
8. Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure overall design integrity.
9. Promote and develop the technical capability of team members.
10. Encourage innovative thinking and professional development.
11. Perform other duties as required by line managers or project managers.
12. Ensure adherence to company values and respect for public surroundings.
13. Maintain quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
14. Create and maintain good relations with clients, design teams, and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will:
1. Be a qualified Engineer, ideally chartered or a member of a relevant institution (e.g., ICE).
2. Have suitable civil and infrastructure design experience in the UK water sector.
3. Possess strong knowledge of the UK Water Industry and Sewer Sector Guidance standards.
4. Understand software design methods such as MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and Civils3D; experience with BIM integration is desirable.
5. Be technically competent in hydraulic design principles and manual calculation methods.
6. Have experience in a client-facing position.
7. Think innovatively and entrepreneurially.
8. Exhibit strong team-working ethic.
9. Possess good people skills and the ability to motivate others.
10. Be willing to learn and improve skills.
11. Have excellent communication, organizational, planning, and time management skills.
12. Hold a full UK driving license.
