Peterborough City Council is currently looking for committed and self-motivated people to work within the Leaving Care Service as Personal Advisors. A Personal Adviser (PA) works with care experienced young people to make sure they receive the care, support and entitlements they need when they leave care. The Personal Advisor will work as part of a team providing support to young people in care and those that are care experienced to support them with a positive transition into adulthood and independence. The Team's priorities are to ensure that young people are living in suitable accommodation, have opportunities to engage in education, employment/training, and are able to contribute positively within their local community. You will work within the Leaving Care Team which is part of Peterborough City Council’s Corporate Parenting Service. You will hold a case load of eligible, relevant and former relevant and qualifying young people, providing 1:1 support, and undertake the role of Personal Advisor as described in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. This includes reviewing and updating Pathways Plan on a six monthly basis. Requirements for the role: You will have experience of working with young people in a professional capacity and have an understanding of the challenges facing care experienced young people as they make the transition to independence. You will have enthusiasm and creativity in engaging with young people. You will require an ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure. To be punctual, reliable and work with integrity. There will be the occasional need to work some unsocial hours and the ability to undertake visits out of county is essential.
