Due to continued growth, an opportunity has emerged for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our client's close-knit, team-working environment. Design, prototyping, R&D development, and manufacturing are all within their high-tech facility in the heart of the country at Lichfield. This person MUST have a CAN-DO attitude and be willing to go the extra mile when required. He/She will always seek solutions and will be willing to take on various challenges.
Main Missions
1. New Product Introduction: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the definition and implementation of production processes as part of the APQP process and PPAP activities.
2. Serial Production: Lead continuous improvement activities to improve product margin and support the development of lean manufacturing techniques such as:
o Process waste elimination
o One-piece flow
o 5S
o Visual factory
o SMED
o Poka-Yoke
o Quality response
o Production and PC&L support
3. Duties:
o Process flow / PFMEA
o Production training
o Support local 8D (Problem-solving tools / 5 Why / Fishbone diagram)
o Machine / workstation definition, sourcing, and final buy-off
o Tooling / Fixture / equipment definition and sourcing
o Visual Work instructions (VWI) or Standard Operating Instructions (SOP)
o Manufacturing floor layout development from Goods in to Dispatch
o Packaging development / sourcing and validation
o Tools and fixture development (Production & CMM tooling / fixture and gauges development)
o Process optimization to meet customer Tact-Time
o Budget creation and justification (ROI)
o Establish manning level
o Bottleneck elimination / work balance & MTM analysis
4. Engineering Change Management: Development and optimization of Material Flow diagram analysis (Spaghetti chart), TPM development and implementation.
5. MSA studies on measuring equipment.
6. Production files creation in line with PPAP requirement & customer requirement (traceability).
7. Develop first / off procedure, identify SC and CC and set up monitoring system based on SPC charts.
Skills
* AutoCAD LT version knowledge (2019 onwards)
* SolidWorks software working knowledge
* IT network and associated IT hardware / software knowledge such as scanning / workstation networking
* Microsoft package (Excel, PowerPoint essentially)
* MTM / Work balance analysis
* Basic Quality control system
Experience / Background
* Automotive / Aerospace experience in a high precision mechanical environment
* Proven experience in launching New Product
* Lean practitioner (5S / SMED / 1 piece flow concept / etc.)
* Quick learner who can apply or transfer / adapt their skills to the business
Education
We will consider qualifications in HND, degree level, or equivalent relevant experience.
Hours and Environment
38 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (30-minute lunch), Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Travel
Rare travels to customers / suppliers may be required.
