Job Overview We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Specialist Practitioner to our Adult Autism Diagnostic Service for a fixed term 12-month period. This is an exciting opportunity for Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurses, Social workers, Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals with an equivalent registration to develop their skills within a well-established adult Neurodiversity service. The Humber Adult Autism Diagnostic Service (HAADS) currently offers high-quality autism assessments to adults aged 18 years and over who are registered with a Hull or East Riding of Yorkshire GP. Assessments are offered within a Multi-disciplinary team format and are conducted both online and in person at one of our clinics based across the Humber region. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have strong clinical reasoning skills, excellent communication skills and some experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and professions. The ability to produce written work, including reports to a high standard is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate specialist clinical skills in working with neurodivergent people, in particular autistic people. Prior experience of contributing to autism diagnostic assessments is preferred, however, training and CPD opportunities will be provided as required. In addition to supporting autism diagnostic assessments, the role will also include triaging autism referrals, providing support/advice to patients, their families/carers and professionals involved in their care and service development. The successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Diploma or Degree in Professional qualification equivalent to RMN, Registered Social worker or equivalent AHP Professional Registration with the HCPC/NMC or equivalent Desirable criteria Autism and/or ADHD Diagnostic Qualifications Experience Essential criteria Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist level of care Evidence of development of specialist clinical skills relevant to the role Desirable criteria Experience of working with adults with mental health conditions or learning disabilities Experience of working with a Neurodiverse population and more specifically Autism and ADHD Experience of working with individuals with emotional and mental health needs Supervision of students Knowledge Essential Criteria Knowledge and understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area Knowledge and understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area Desirable criteria Knowledge of Autism & ADHD, standardised assessments and their use in practice Applicant Requirements You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
