Wansford and Kings Cliffe Practice has a vacancy for an experienced Practice Nurse for 30 hours a week, to be worked Monday, Thursday, and Friday 8am to 6pm (with one hour's unpaid lunch break).
There may be the opportunity to develop into a nurse lead role should you have or develop the necessary experience.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the whole practice population across both Wansford Surgery and our branch surgery, Kings Cliffe.

To ensure the highest standards of care are provided for patients.
To deliver a high standard of patient care using specialist practice nursing skills.
Must be able to deliver a whole range of nursing duties to include but not limited to:
* ECGs
* Dressings
* Smears
* Travel vaccinations
* Baby immunisations
* Women's health

Wansford Surgery is a thriving and well-established independent Practice serving circa 10,500 patients across 120 square miles of rural territory nestling between Stamford and Oundle. We are a highly regarded training practice, with a strong ethos of education and professional development to enable us to deliver the highest possible standard of care.
Our current nursing team comprises two part-time practice nurses, a full-time HCA, a part-time phlebotomist, and a full-time Cardiology Specialist Nurse.
Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
1. To assist the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and to work to the IPC Policy providing audits, training, support, and evidence of compliance to the practice manager.
2. To assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate, incorporating evidence-based practice.
3. To implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for chronic disease patients that promote health and wellbeing.
4. To identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to patients' health.
5. As required, to provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF.
6. As required, to diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
7. To provide guidance to patients on the use of prescribed and over-the-counter medications regarding side effects and dosages.
8. To request pathology services and process pathology results as required.
9. To oversee the provision of chronic disease clinics, delivering patient care as necessary, referring patients to secondary/specialist care as required.
10. To maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with extant legislation.
11. To ensure the appropriate maintenance and use of chronic disease registers.
12. To ensure compliance with the practice chaperone policy.
13. To assist GPs with minor surgery when required.
