Role Title: Technical Manager Location: West Midlands Work Schedule: The shift pattern will be Monday to Friday, 6am - 3.30pm, but there needs to be an element of flexibility with this. Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 per annum (Dependant on key experience factors) Job Purpose The Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and compliance at the breaded site. This full-time, permanent role reports to the Head of Technical and involves working closely with customers, the QA team, and the Site Internal Auditor/Compliance Manager to improve quality standards and ensure regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include maintaining and developing the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring adherence to HACCP principles, and managing site visits and audits. The role requires a strong focus on quality, customer expectations, and legal compliance, with an ability to train and support staff in achieving these objectives. Quality Assurance & Compliance: Maintain and develop the Quality Management System and site HACCP plan. Ensure compliance with BRCGS, retailer requirements, and food safety regulations. Verify that product quality meets customer specifications. Set QA compliance objectives and ensure targets are achieved. Conduct internal audits and ensure follow-up actions are completed. Carry out risk assessments and gap analyses against BRCGS standards. Implement corrective actions in response to customer complaints. Oversee product label audits and compliance with labelling regulations (QUID). Audit & Reporting: Lead and support site visits and audits (BRCGS, customer audits, internal). Collate and analyse performance data, producing KPI-based reports. Ensure metal detector and weight checks are conducted and documented. Investigate root causes of non-conformance reports and implement corrective actions. People Management & Training: Supervise and support QCs, QAs, and the Internal Auditor/Compliance Manager. Provide training and guidance on quality procedures and best practices. Promote a culture of continuous improvement in quality management. Ensure consistency in the application of company policies, including disciplinary and grievance procedures. Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Promote safe working practices and adherence to company hygiene requirements. Investigate and report health and safety incidents. Collaborate with management to maintain a safe working environment. Skills, Experience & Qualifications Essential: Working knowledge of BRCGS standards. HACCP Level 3, VACCP, TACCP certification. Food Safety Level 3. Internal Auditor qualification. Experience in a similar role, preferably in the poultry industry. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines. IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Desirable: Food Safety Level 4. HACCP Level 4. Lead Auditor certification. Experience with data management and analysis
