The Opportunity:
The Centre for Open Learning is seeking an enthusiastic University of Edinburgh student to provide peer support to international students participating in a bespoke English Language course. The post holder will assist teachers with class preparation, support students in the classroom, and provide opportunities for them to develop their English Language skills. They will also accompany students on social and educational activities and promote opportunities for cross cultural exchange.
There is one part-time (15 hours per week), fixed term contract available from 14/02/2025 – 07/03/2025. These dates include a mandatory 2-hour induction. The post holder will be required to work flexibly as some activities will take place outside standard working hours, including evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be based at the Holyrood campus and attend activities and events across Edinburgh.
Your skills and attributes for success:
1. Current University of Edinburgh undergraduate or postgraduate student
2. Good oral and written communication skills
3. Ability to communicate successfully with speakers of English across a wide range of proficiencies
4. Experience of communicating successfully across cultures
5. Good organisation and time-management skills
6. Flexible approach to work, which may include evenings and weekends
