We are very excited to have the opportunity to recruit 2 Apprentice Therapeutic Radiographers.
The apprenticeship is a 3 year BSc programme based within the Radiotherapy and Oncology Department in The James Cook University Hospital at Middlesbrough, in conjunction with The University of West England via a predominantly distance learning approach.
The applicant will have 20% protected study time, equivalent to one day per week.
Applications are invited from those looking to embark on a apprenticeship as a therapeutic radiographer in a forward-thinking, award-winning and technically advanced radiotherapy department at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.
Our focus is to continually improve patients’ experiences and outcomes and you will be supported by a friendly, committed multi-disciplinary team of staff striving to ensure the delivery of excellence in all aspects of patient care.
Responsibilities:
1. To work within the radiotherapy and oncology departments at The James Cook University Hospital as a trainee therapeutic radiographer under the Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship Programme.
2. To work as part of a team, ensuring safe and accurate delivery of radiotherapy to patients, under the supervision of a state registered radiographer at all times.
We work between two sites within the hospital, following the build of The Endeavour Unit, an award-winning state-of-the-art radiotherapy facility.
The department is well equipped which provides scope for our expanding technological and professional development.
We are a future-focused department and support radiographers in their clinical development from apprenticeship to therapeutic radiographer, to advanced practitioner level and up to Consultant Radiographer.
Our radiographers are fully involved in the MDT approach to developments within the department. The department has a major commitment to evidence-based practice and participates in multi-centre clinical research trials, led by our Radiotherapy Research Team. Ongoing professional development is supported and encouraged.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
