Riverview Surgery is awell-established, supportive, forward thinking GMS practice in Sunderland. We are located 15 miles east of Newcastleupon Tyne, with easy access to the A1 and Tyne tunnel. We have an exciting 6-8 session salaried GPopportunity with a flexible start date up to 1-4-2025. We are seeking an enthusiastic and positiveGP who is genuinely interested in holistic care for their patient.
Main duties of the job
The workload is well managed with15 patients morning (0900-1130) and 10 patients on an afternoon (1530- 1700).
Very low visiting for GPs.
No care home alignment.
Flexible working hours andstructure of surgeries.
No 'Out of hours' or 'Extendedaccess' requirement.

Our team comprises; 1x communitypharmacist, 1x pharmacy technician, 2x practice nurses, 1x nurse practitioner,1x salaried GP and 1x GP partner.

Job responsibilities
Key clinical responsibilities:
Patient consultations (in person, video calls, telephonecalls, home visits)
Checking and signing repeat prescriptions / queries
Checking patient medical test results and actioning asappropriate
Completing patient medical reports and examinations asrequired
All other supporting paperwork and related administrativework
Attending any emergencies in the practice
Supporting other practice clinicians in their queries
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation topresenting problems (self-referred by the patient or referred by others in thepractice)
Assessing the healthcare needs of patients withundifferentiated, undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signsof illness
Managing patients with long term conditions and developingcare plans
Referring to other case providers as appropriate
Audits of patient care and outcomes
Prepared to represent the practice in PCN or other localmeetings if required
Prescribing (both acute and repeat) in accordance with localand national guidelines
Ensure that your work is recorded and auditable
Recording clear and contemporaneous notes to professionalstandards
Collecting data for audit purposes / complying with nationalrequirements
Working with the Practice Management team to ensure patientdata is accurate and up to date on the clinical system
Using our relevant IT systems including EMIS Web in allcases where possible
Balance patient care and time management effectively to ensurethe service runs efficiently and effectively
Treat all patients with respect, dignity, warmth and empathyto ensure patients feel cared for and have a positive experience in thepractice

Qualifications
Essential
1. Qualified General Practitioner
2. Registered and licenced to practice with GMC.
3. Cited on Medical Performers List
4. Appropriate post-graduate qualifications

5. Excellent clinical knowledge and an understanding of GP clinical IT systems is desirable.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team and perform effectively under pressure.
7. To be highly motivated with excellent consultation skills.
8. Excellent timekeeping with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
9. Ideally a minimum of two years experience in Primary care, however, newly qualified GPs will very much be considered).
