Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest trusts in the country, serving a population of 1.2 million people comprising acute hospital sites at Broomfield in Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend.
We are a well-led, high-performing and innovative organisation determined to provide the best health care services for our local population and working in the best interests of the people we serve.
Job overview
The Paediatric Assessment Unit is looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Band 6 Nurse to join an already established team to help develop the service offered. This currently sees patients referred for clinical assessment and/or treatment of surgical, medical or orthopaedic conditions from various sources, including GP's, A&E and Community Midwives.
The post holder should be a proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated individual who, along with the PAU Manager, will help lead a small team to deliver a seamless service and high-quality care to patients.
The PAU team can offer a structured orientation programme for the Band 6 nurse along with ongoing support to assist with progression within the role. Although this is advertised as a part-time position, full-time hours can be discussed during the interview. If you are interested in the role and believe you hold the qualities we require, then apply today!
Main duties of the job
1. In liaison with the Unit Manager and fellow PAU Band 6 Nurses, lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care.
2. In the absence of the PAU Manager (Band 7), the Band 6 nursing team will be responsible for the effective deployment of ward/department resources (including manpower) and will be able to follow escalation policies in a timely and comprehensive manner.
3. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Governance systems in the ward/department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety, and Controls Assurance.
4. Responsible and accountable for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision for a defined group of patients.
5. Exhibit strong, professional leadership qualities, which are critical to the quality of care, staff morale, and the learning environment.
6. This role includes working shift patterns including weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
