RAF Coningsby has a diverse selection of Aircraft operating from its airfield, including Typhoon Aircraft and the historical aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Much of the history of the RAF in the last 70 years can be seen in the skies over Coningsby.
We currently have an opportunity for a Paint Prepper/Painter to join our team to support the painting services for the MoD. You will be responsible for the delivery of SF in a wide range of tasks, which include surface preparation (abrading, paint stripping, DMS/PMS abrasive blasting, masking, cleaning, and pre-treatment), and the application of associated finishes on all MoD assets.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
1. Performing surface finish tasks in accordance with the quality policy, procedures, and standards required.
2. Manual (Abrading), Chemical and Media paint removal methods on Aircraft, Aircraft components, and numerous MoD ground assets prior to repainting.
3. Applying a high standard of paint finish to Aircraft, Aircraft components, and numerous MoD assets using various paint schemes and modern paint application equipment.
4. Notify supervisors of any anomalies, failures, defects, corrosion, etc. which may give rise to a poor quality product and/or endanger Aviation Safety.
5. Ensure compliance with health and safety aspects including COSHH and Risk Assessments, including control of entry by unauthorized personnel into work areas.
What you'll need to do the role:
1. RAF Painter and Finisher tradesperson or time-served civilian equivalent in the trade of Aircraft/Automotive Body shop painter.
2. NVQ 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or equivalent qualification.
3. Full driving licence is desirable.
