Position Purpose:
As our Management Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that the month-end close process is executed accurately and on time for all our UK locations.
You’ll work as part of our finance team in the corporate head office where you’ll get the opportunity every day to demonstrate your detail-oriented focus and your excellent communication skills.
*We offer this role with hybrid working in mind, however please note that you should ensure you are able to comfortably commute to our Leeds head office a minimum of 2 days per week. To ensure we maintain a level of commitment to life balance, candidates with a perceived commuting time of more than 60 minutes may not be considered.
Key Job Activities:
1. You’ll be focusing on monthly closing and reporting of books and records, related account reconciliations, cost accruals, analysis of financial statement variances, whilst ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SOX and Stericycle accounting policies.
2. You’ll prepare in a timely and accurate manner the accounting information and processes to support monthly reporting to the US parent company, statutory accounts, and tax returns. That means, you’ll work diligently to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and efficiency of financial information and translate it into robust and accurate reporting.
3. You’ll communicate regularly with stakeholders to ensure efficient and accurate reporting and you’ll also be collaborating with various business units to have a thorough understanding of reporting requirements and business needs.
4. You’ll prepare complex journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and US reporting packages. You will also undertake balance sheet and P&L reviews, including variance analysis, to provide meaningful insights into the company's financial performance.
5. You’ll collaborate with internal and external audit and tax teams, making sure we are being compliant.
6. You’ll work closely with the FP&A Team and Commercial Finance to understand P&L drivers and movements in the month, as well as overall business performance.
Education:
Required Education: in Finance
Experience (EMEAA):
7. You’ll have a CIMA/ACCA qualification.
8. You'll have at least two years of experience working in a Management Accountant role.
9. You'll have a proven track record of team leadership and excellent communication and presentation skills, this means you're confident working with people at all levels of the organization, and you can explain financial information in a way that non-financial professionals can understand.
10. You have practical experience in journal entry, balance sheet reconciliation, and a solid understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and SOX requirements.
11. You're comfortable with P&L variance analysis, reviewing costs, and providing commentary for FP&A and senior management.
12. You have advanced IT skills, including expertise with Excel (including basic formulas, pivots tables, “if” statements, lookups as a minimum), as well as finance system expertise. You're also comfortable researching emerging or complex accounting or reporting issues and staying up to date with industry trends and best practices.
