Job Responsibilities
* Supervise a low to medium volume, high mix metalwork production area comprising of CNC Punch, CNC Bend, Weld, Studding, Powder Coat, Laser Etch and Final Assembly.
* Ensure the metalwork department produces sub-assemblies and finished products on time to specification in order to meet the Production plan.
* Maintain the Production plan so that the Production Manager and others have a ‘real’ time view of the status of all jobs in the area.
* Implement and manage production KPIs.
* Implement and maintain 5S, TPM and drive continuous process improvements.
* Adhere to safety protocols and manage personnel.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage Safety, Quality & Process.
* Update Production Manager on output vs target and build status.
* Implement and manage skills matrix to ensure multi-skilling of the workforce.
* Conduct first line people management and enforce HR processes including return to work interviews, first line disciplinary, 1-2-1s, appraisal and setting of objectives for staff.
Skills Required
* At least 2-3 years’ experience working as a supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Proven people management skills.
* Significant interpersonal skills.
* Previous experience of implementing and working within a lean environment.
* Knowledge of 5S, TPM, Single Piece Flow.
* Experience in a metal fabrication environment.
* Good planning skills and familiarity with production process flow and value engineering.
* Post school academic attainment such as NVQ or full apprenticeship.
