You will be responsible for, but not limited to: Provide technical leadership as required by the business. Represent the business on third-party standards committees, including follow-up and reporting to the Management Team and Governance Committee. Support the management of certification complaints, metrics, and certification appeals with standard owners, ensuring timely resolution and reporting to the Governance Committee. Support accreditation processes (e.g. UKAS) and implement necessary process and procedural changes, updates, and refinements. Conduct audits for the client base against current and future accredited or non-accredited standards, aligning with business needs. Create audit reports for certification programmes and, where permitted, carry out contract reviews, certification decisions, suspensions, or withdrawals in accordance with relevant standards. Undertake internal audits and contribute to internal auditing activities, driving improvements through the QMS and providing written reports in a timely manner. Deliver training courses, both internally and to customers, in a professional and engaging manner. Provide training to employees and/or sub-contracted auditors to support business objectives, including acting as a trainer for external courses. Develop or update training course material as required. Adhere to budget constraints set by the General Manager. Support the Client Services Manager in the daily operations of the department, offering expertise to the operations team and attending operational meetings as needed. What's required? Education Degree or equivalent in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related science discipline, including general microbiology and general chemistry. Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of extensive relevant work experience may be considered as a concession (subject to written agreement by BRCGS). Work Experience Minimum of 5 years of full-time post-qualification experience in the food industry. At least 2 years in a quality assurance/food safety role within food production, manufacturing, retailing, inspection, or enforcement. Qualifications Management System Lead Assessor Course (e.g. IRCA) or BRC Third Party Auditor course. Recognised HACCP training course (minimum 2 days). Recognised training in food safety management, including HACCP principles and ISO 22000 PRPs. Audit Training & Experience Successfully completed at least 10 audits (minimum 15 audit days) against GFSI-approved standards or ISO 22000, including at least 5 audits against the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety. Completed 12 FSMS audit days across four organisations in the last three years under the leadership of a qualified auditor. Strong understanding of audit techniques based on ISO 19011. Certification Programme Experience Registered BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety Auditor. Signed off to audit at least 5 of the following categories: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 14, 15, and 16.
