Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to join the Women's Health Safety Team as the Risk Management Midwife at University College Hospital Foundation Trust on a fixed term basis.
The job role will involve collaborating with the Matron for Governance and Safety and wider multidisciplinary team to lead on locally and nationally identified risk management and improvement projects whilst supporting implementation of the national maternity agenda. The role will include developing a learning-based culture within women's health services by leading on the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) across all incident management processes and governance structures.
Main duties of the job
Your ability to identify risk, support change in clinical practice, and to maintain high standards, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to the role. Alongside knowledge and understanding of a systems-based approach to patient safety and investigations.

Person Specification Knowledge & Qualifications Essential
* Registered midwife
* Teaching qualified/equivalent
* Degree in health-related subject
* Masters level education
Desirable
* Recognised management qualification
* Recognised risk management qualification
* Human factors training
Experience Essential
* Experience as a band 7 or above
* Proven track record of leadership
* Evidence of clinical competence and regular clinical practice
* Project management experience or change management
* Experience of teaching/training staff
* Experience of Group & Committee Work
* Knowledge of MBRRACE -UK, UKOSS and PMRT (Perinatal mortality review tool).
* In-depth understanding of MNSI, NHS Improvement and NHS resolution
* Knowledge of conducting Risk Assessments
Communication Essential
* Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
Skills and Abilities Essential
* Experience of writing Serious Incident Reports/patient safety incident investigations
