The Role
Welfare Support Workers play a key role within the Lifeline-Responder service completing scheduled welfare checks to customers in their own homes who have a Lifeline unit installed. The Welfare Support Workers visit sites that are classed as Sheltered, Supported housing, or Housing for Older People, alongside some General Needs Housing provision.
This role is community-based and tasks include:
* Visiting customers for welfare checks on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis depending on an assessment of their needs.
* Liaising with other services such as Community Wellbeing Teams or Fire Service if you feel a customer needs more support.
* Installing lifeline units into customer properties.
* Using a work device to check in and out of welfare visits using a specialist app.
* Completing online forms and searching our online database for customer details.
* Signing up new customers who move onto the housing sites and updating existing customer details.
* Responding to emergency Lifeline activations, which may include provision of basic first aid, liaising with emergency services, using specialist lifting equipment to assist individuals who have fallen, and supporting people in mental health crises.
* Responding to technical faults with Telecare equipment.
Welfare Support Workers cover the whole of the East Riding with bases in the following areas:
* Bridlington/Driffield
* Holderness
* Goole
* Pocklington
* Beverley
* Haltemprice
You are expected to be flexible to travel to any of the above areas; however, base locations will be discussed at interview. The service operates between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 to a specified rota pattern. The service sits within the Lifeline-Responder service which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The candidate
No previous medical experience or training is necessary; however, you will need a caring attitude and be able to demonstrate you are organised, customer-focused, and able to work to specific timescales. Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn are essential. Basic IT skills are also required for this role.
Please note the role involves the moving and handling of customers and use of lifting equipment, for which a certain standard of fitness is required.

* Access to a car
* Be prepared to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
