Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced, knowledgeable, and proactive Digital Portfolio Manager who will be instrumental in the strategy, governance, tracking and evolution of the digital portfolio and it's change initiatives. Ensuring we select the right initiatives to pursue and that those initiatives deliver to time, cost and value.
About the team
The Digital Transformation Office team is the information hub for all Digital Products, Projects and Programmes, and involves tracking/reporting, assurance/quality control, information management, financial tracking, risk/issue tracking, change control, support and knowledge management; learning & development, alongside Digital Strategy, SOx/ITGC compliance, & Strategic Vendor Management.
The role involves:
Governance:
1. Support the definition and evolution of governance standards across the portfolio
2. Manage the portfolio level risks and issues register.
3. Carry out assurance review processes, as required
Planning & Reporting:
4. Deliver against our long-term Portfolio Strategy, ensuring we can support data-driven decisioning on our investment decisions.
5. Supported by data-driven decisioning, manage the ‘change funnel’ for Digital to ensure we can respond to requests with insights into whether and how we may be able to solve problems or meet opportunities for our Digital and broader Abcam associates.
6. Support the communication and sharing of change standards across both technical and management to support our Programme, Project and Product Managers (PPP Managers).
7. Engage with PPP Managers across the portfolio to drive up understanding of data and insight standards and enhance compliance.
8. Ensure continued validity of our Strategic Roadmap for the year.
9. Support communication of and engagement with more detailed-level plans
10. Lead internal ‘events’ including regular portfolio updates and 90-Day Roadmap Reviews.
Portfolio Management:
11. Support and manage engagement with and sharing of new processes and insights such as continued visibility of value tracking.
12. Support the rollout and move into Product Management of Atlassian Cloud, to ensure we maximise value from the platform, and manage the backlog of requests from users.
13. Provide effective management support to the Product Domain Leads
14. Ensuring project, product domain and portfolio plans are created and maintained, and deliverables tracked.
15. Monitor and report on portfolio progress to all stakeholders
16. Manage portfolio-level risks, issues and change control, communicating the impact to all relevant parties
17. Monitor the portfolio against time, budget and quality standards
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional PMO or Strategic Portfolio Manager, who will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Digital/IT Strategic Portfolio Management. You will have a can do attitiude and be highly proactive. You will be a problem solver and will build strong and trusted relationships to influence the right outcomes. You will be able to challenge appropriately at all levels of the organisation.
Additional competencies and knowledge:
18. Working knowledge of standard project management, product management and reporting systems, across both waterfall and agile methodologies
19. Data-literate, able to support gathering and collation of data across multiple systems.
20. Excellent communication and collaboration skills
21. Ability to analyse and use data to deliver outcomes or support decisions
22. Experience in identifying, diagnosing and proposing solutions
23. Adaptability to change when needed and comfortably adapt to new priorities
24. Strong organisational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities
25. Good attention to detail
