Main duties of the job
An excellent opportunity has arisen for two consultants with an interest in gynaecology oncology. These are new posts to strengthen our gynaecology oncology department in the face of increasing referrals and commitments. The candidates are expected to have a broad range of skills in gynaecology with an emphasis in outpatient diagnostics as it pertains to oncology. It is envisaged that the candidates are independent at elective and emergency day case and inpatient gynaecology surgery. Experience in laparoscopic management of gynaecological malignancy is desirable as is gynaecological ultrasound. There is currently no obstetric or on call component, but this is subject to change as the requirements in the department changes.
Working for our organisation
There is a commitment to 21 Saturdays a year and evening clinics - further details from line manager. There will be flexible cross site working to include Barnet General, Royal Free Hospital, Chase Farm, Edgware Community and Finchley memorial hospitals. The Job plan is flexible at this stage and will involve, clinics, theatres, outpatient hysteroscopy and if appropriate colposcopy.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidates will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of gynaecologists, specialist nurses and allied health professionals. The candidate should be keen to work as part of a team and develop good relationships with other staff within and outside of the department.
The successful candidates are expected to be fully trained in all aspects of general gynaecology, independent at elective and emergency day case and inpatient gynaecology surgery, competent at managing gynaecological including early pregnancy emergencies.
