We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Northamptonshire to assist with the appointment of a Childcare Lawyer, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £53.50 - £67.73 per Hour
Responsibilities:
* Provide legal advice and services as requested to the Council, its Members and its client departments commensurate with experience to ensure that the implications of local government law are complied with and understood, including adequately representing the Council in courts and tribunals.
* Supervision of junior members of the team.
* Support senior lawyers with the drafting and provision of advice on reports for the Cabinet, Cabinet Members, Council Committees and Sub-Committees and to attend Committees and other meetings as may be required.
* Support and contribute to the effective delivery of the Council's objectives and priorities.
* Support achievement of the team's income target.
Qualifications:
* Qualified CILEX, Solicitor or Barrister, licensed to practice.
* Experience of providing general and specialist childcare advice on behalf of the Council to clients, colleagues, elected members, and senior officers.
* Experience in managing a caseload in relation to the full range of child protection cases, including attendance at court and tribunals undertaking advocacy where required.
