Description
No day will be the same - here are some of the highlights
We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned L&D Professional with broad, cross functional experience to join our growing team as a Technical Partner. In this new key role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering our technical learning and development strategy—supporting electricians, heating engineers, and other specialists across our Services teams.
Reporting to the L&D Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of technical training programmes, ensuring they align with our wider organisational goals and L&D strategy. You’ll take ownership of competency frameworks, develop impactful training initiatives, and support the integration of newly acquired businesses into our existing L&D practices.
With a proven track record across varied L&D environments, you’ll be confident managing complex stakeholder relationships, delivering high-quality learning solutions, and using data to drive continuous improvement. While this is a hybrid role, you’ll need to be flexible and comfortable with occasional travel to sites when required.
Responsibilities:
Competency Skills & Development:
* Assess current and future technical skills needs, ensuring alignment with industry and business goals.
* Define and standardise core competencies, certifications, and L&D practices for technical roles to ensure consistency and cost efficiency.
Training & Apprenticeship Programmes:
* Design, deliver, and improve training programmes (face-to-face, virtual, digital) in collaboration with HR, Compliance, and technical experts, addressing skills gaps and regulatory requirements.
* Enhance onboarding and induction experiences to optimise new starter engagement.
* Leverage the apprenticeship levy to develop structured programmes that support career progression and workforce planning.
Performance Metrics & Stakeholder Management:
* Develop and track KPIs to assess training effectiveness, competency growth, and ROI, providing data-driven insights to enhance L&D impact.
* Manage complex relationships with internal stakeholders and external training providers, ensuring high-quality learning solutions that align with business and regulatory standards.
What you'll need to succeed
We’re looking for a proactive self-starter who brings depth and breadth of experience across different organisational or functional contexts. Supporting newly acquired service teams, you'll thrive in designing and delivering learning from the ground up, adapting approaches to fit diverse business needs, cultures, and expectations.
In this fast-paced and evolving role, you'll support newly acquired teams through transition, aligning their talent and learning strategies with our broader business goals. You’ll need to be highly adaptable, confident working with ambiguity, and comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels - including those with differing priorities or legacy ways of working.
Essentials
* Significant L&D experience gained across multiple organisations, ideally in both technical and strategic contexts.
* Strong background in Learning & Development, with expertise in designing and delivering training (face-to-face, virtual, and digital) in collaboration with HR, Compliance, Health & Safety, and technical experts.
* Ability to create and implement competency frameworks, training matrices, and certification pathways for technical roles.
* Knowledge of apprenticeship frameworks and experience managing levy-funded programmes.
* Skilled in developing digital learning content using eLearning tools (e.g., Articulate Rise, Easygenerator, or similar).
* Ability to manage complex stakeholders and external training providers, ensuring high-quality learning outcomes.
* Comfortable making pragmatic decisions in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Desirable
* Experience in L&D branding, marketing, and internal communications.
* Proven success delivering technical training in field-based environments where learning is not a core focus.
* Insights Discovery accredited.
