Job Description Role: Animal By-Product Liaison Manager Our Client is one of the UK’s leading specialists in processing animal by-products and renewable energy dedicated to sustainability, quality, and innovation. They play a crucial role in the food and agricultural industries collecting and processing material, which is transformed into valuable resources for use in pet food, cosmetics, oleochemicals and renewable fuel. We are looking for a dedicated Animal By-Product Liaison Manager to join our team and serve as the primary contact between our suppliers and the processing plants. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in coordinating and facilitating seamless communication, ensuring efficient collection and processing of the products supplied. Job Description : Your primary responsibility is to ensure smooth communication, efficient operations, and strong partnerships with external stakeholders. You will work closely with suppliers and abattoirs to manage the supply chain, optimise processes, maintain high-quality standards and uphold regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Supplier Relationship Management : Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and abattoirs to ensure consistent and reliable access to raw materials. Which would entail running your own diary with regular visits to suppliers all over the UK and Ireland. Supply Chain Optimisation : Collaborate with suppliers and abattoirs to streamline the supply chain process, including coordinating deliveries, managing inventory levels, and resolving logistical issues. Quality Assurance : Implement quality control measures to ensure that raw materials meet the required standards for meat rendering. Conduct regular inspections and audits of suppliers and abattoirs to uphold quality and safety standards. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation and cost reduction within the supply chain. Implement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall performance. Monitor and report on the quality and quantity of products received by suppliers. Giving regular updates Directors on operational performance, challenges and opportunities. Communication and Coordination : Serve as the primary point of contact between the meat rendering plants and external suppliers and abattoirs. Facilitate clear and effective communication to ensure alignment on expectations, requirements, and timelines. Risk Management : Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, such as supply disruptions, quality issues, or regulatory compliance concerns. Develop contingency plans to address any unforeseen challenges. Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing the sourcing and transportation of raw materials from suppliers and abattoirs. Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices. Requirements: Successful candidate would have experience in an abattoir, boning, butchery or similar environment. It would be an advantage to have experience of supply chain management, procurement, or supplier relationship management within the meat industry. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic fast-paced environment, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously. Willingness to travel extensively within the UK and Ireland Understanding of UK regulations and standards related to meat processing and transportation. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Analytical mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions.
