Job summary
2 Posts- One with a focus of Upper Limb and the second with a focus on Lower limb. These posts sit within the Orthopaedic Team at Associate Specialist grade and will include Consultant and Middle Grade level responsibilities. This post should appeal to senior Middle grade surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery looking to progress their careers to a higher level of performance, autonomy and independence whilst still working within an enthusiastic Consultant led unit.
It is anticipated that this role will appeal to existing Associate Specialists, Specialist Registrars, Senior Staff/Trust Grades and Fellows.
Main duties of the job
The Orthopaedic Team currently consists of 16 orthopaedic surgeons providing on call, trauma and elective services at York Hospital. All of the surgeons and middle grade doctors work on a seconded basis at the local Independent Sector Treatment Centre (Clifton Park NHS Treatment Centre).
We have a 30 bedded trauma ward, and a busy outpatient department. There are four dedicated orthopaedic operating theatres with laminar flow - one trauma, two elective and one day case located in the Day Treatment Unit.
We have an established multi-disciplinary team working alongside the surgeons, including Extended Scope Physiotherapists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

8. oHas achieved MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
9. oSatisfactory completion of F1 & F2 post or equivalent
10. oCompletion of FRCS Orth or equivalent
11. oALS training or equivalent
