Hours: You'll work 37.5 hours per week but the shift pattern will vary. You'll be working mixed shifts where one weekend day each week is required.
Open shift 7.30am – 3.30pm - unlocking and alarming the estate
Close shift 11am – 7pm - locking and alarming the estate. This changes in the winter to 10am-6pm
Salary: £12.25 per hour
Duration: Fixed term contract until 3rd November 2025

Reporting to the Facilities Coordinator, you'll join a close-knit team of seven. Some days start with unlocking and preparing the buildings, taking in the peaceful beauty of the undisturbed grounds before visitors arrive. From ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors to securing the site at the end of the day, your role is essential to the smooth running of the estate. We work in collaboration with different teams across the site, from helping to moving equipment around the estate to aiding our visitor experience team setting up trails.

What you'll be doing
As the Facilities Assistant, you'll assist with the day to day cleanliness and presentation the National Trust’s buildings and outdoor spaces. You’ll turn your practical hand to all sorts of cleaning and minor maintenance ensuring all our facilities are kept in good working order. You'll also be asked to help with some manual work such as unloading deliveries.
Duties such as cleaning, sweeping and litter picking will form a core part of the role, both inside and outdoors. You’ll ensure the highest standards of customer service across the area by always implementing a ‘customer comes first’ attitude. General maintenance work and helping within other teams will also form part of your role.
