Consultant Core CYPMHS inc Learning Disability Services
This is an exciting time as CYPMHS in Leeds undergoes a redesign. You will bring excellent leadership, enthusiasm & strategic skills to help solve challenges & shape the future of the service. You will be welcoming, with a positive approach to seeing children & young people with a range of presentations within our core and LD service. You will hold a caseload, support new assessments & reviews. You will be a motivated & reliable colleague, committed to developing as a team & will provide clinical leadership & support for local & whole service MDTs. The post is for 10 sessions p/w. We encourage those wishing to work part-time or in a job share to apply. There are on-call responsibilities with this post. You will have an identified base but will be expected to work across the city. Good communication skills are essential. Previous knowledge of healthcare systems would be beneficial although training will be provided. You will work with GMC guidance for working in multi-agency & multi-disciplinary teams & will be expected to work flexibly to meet service need. The ability to travel is essential along with a flexible & adaptable attitude to your daily work & emerging priorities. You will have the opportunity to be active in postgraduate teaching & develop appropriate research interests & applicants must be on the Specialist Register. Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job include:
* Provide strategic direction & professional clinical leadership to the service
* Deliver high quality direct clinical care to diverse communities across the city ensuring the smoothest journey possible for our service users
* Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping in a contemporaneous manner in accordance with Trust policies
* Support effective & collaborative clinical & operational decision making
* Work with managers & colleagues to ensure smooth & efficient running of services at all times
* Actively participate in local and service-wide meetings and engagement forums
* Share with Consultant colleagues in the provision of medical contribution to management
* Support, lead & provide input to service development through a quality improvement lens
* Manage, appraise & provide professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed
* Participate in, comply with and support Trust and service policies and procedures, highlighting and escalating concerns where appropriate
* Carry out Mental Health Act and Responsible Clinician duties as required
* Provide specialist prescribing knowledge, working collaboratively with other colleagues and prescribers to support complex and risky young people in the service
* Attend system meetings as required in person or using available technology
* Provide consultant input into our Learning Disability Team

Job responsibilities
* Clinical Duties of Post Holder
The consultant will have responsibility, together with their consultant colleagues, for the provision of psychiatric services to children and young people living in Leeds. The CYPMH Service is currently undergoing a full redesign and you will help define the consultant role once in post. The exact clinical duties may differ slightly from the list below but are expected to include:
o Medical review of patients as agreed in multi-disciplinary meetings.
o Attendance by telephone or in person at system meetings.
o Advice, consultation and supervision to the team
o Attending weekly team meeting/leadership meetings.
o Attending management and academic meetings
o Supervision of nurse prescribers.
o Giving clinical advice to team members as and when needed.
o Responsibility for supervision of second on call doctor in assessment of emergencies, including assessment under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Section 136 assessments as part of on-call rota.
o Participation in supporting daytime unplanned work
o Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists work closely with the multidisciplinary team. The consultant will support the young person and family alongside the multidisciplinary team.
o The consultant would be expected to see new patients for assessment, this may be alongside another member of the multidisciplinary team. You will also provide advice, support and supervision to trainees and the multidisciplinary team.
* Training Duties
Up to six ST4-6s in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry are placed in the Leeds CAMH service. ST4-6s are placed by the programme director and training committee of the Yorkshire Regional Rotational Scheme and there is usually one higher trainee placed within the Crisis and Liaison Team and Outreach Team.
* Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance
The appointee will be expected to participate in Audit and Clinical Governance within CYPMHS, in collaboration with the CYPMHS Clinical and Medical Leads, and to abide by all clinical and corporate governance procedures and policies as laid out by the organisation.
* Quality Improvement
It is expected that the post holder will lead and manage a team in a way that supports the development of a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
