We’re looking for a permanent Housing Support Co-ordinator to join the team based at Hollinbank House in Heckmondwike, North Kirklees.
At Connect Housing we aim to do more than provide a place to live. We make people feel at home, transform lives, and build communities, and the team plays a critical role in this vision.
As a Housing Support Co-ordinator, you’ll be making a positive difference to the lives of young people (16-25) who have experienced homelessness.
No two days are the same, and you will gain real job satisfaction from this work. On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be assessing referrals, focusing on tenancy management, conducting risk assessments, and managing safeguarding concerns using a multi-agency approach. You’ll be using a strengths-based support plan with the young residents, assisting them to continue with studies or get back into education/employment, and enabling them to gain independent living skills, including discussions around suitable move-on plans. Your time will be spent mainly working in the hostel accommodation, supporting the onsite independent living flats and some tenancies in the community. To do well in this role, you will need to be pro-active, solution-focused, and have some trauma-informed knowledge or experience.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is:
* Pro-active, resilient, and driven to providing a first-class service
* A confident decision-maker who positively and assertively takes a solutions-focused approach to challenges
* A trustworthy and values-driven person who acts ethically and with integrity
* A team player working collaboratively internally and externally while confident enough to work independently
Whilst no formal qualifications are required, applicants must demonstrate experience of:
* Working with young people who have experienced homelessness
* Working within guidelines and policy
* Liaising and working with other agencies
* Identifying and managing situations involving a level of risk
* The issues and challenges faced by young people
This role will require an enhanced DBS check.
In terms of work pattern, there's a 4-week rolling rota with shifts between the hours of 08:30-22:00. This includes some weekend work.
Please read the attached combined job description and person specification document for more details and to help you with your application.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact the Team leader Josie Murray, on 07423 672751.
Closing Date: 24 January 2025. Please note, we may close the vacancy early, so please apply as soon as possible.
