With a growing portfolio of successful projects, they are seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee and lead a team of steel detailers and structural engineers. This role ensures project excellence, technical accuracy, and seamless collaboration between teams.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Team Oversight: Manage and lead detailing and structural engineering teams, ensuring all designs are compliant with industry standards and client expectations.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to steel detailers and engineers, fostering growth and technical expertise.
Subcontract Supervision: Oversee subcontracted design and detailing work, ensuring deliverables meet company standards.
Project Coordination
Client Relations: Act as the primary design contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and clear communication.
Program Management: Develop and maintain detailed design programs, ensuring milestones are met on time.
Budget Control: Monitor design budgets, proactively identifying and addressing potential overruns.
Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, and other stakeholders to align design goals with project requirements and budgets.
Technical and Quality Assurance
Drawing Review: Approve and review fabrication packs to ensure accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
Technical Proficiency: Maintain expertise in software such as Tekla, ensuring team competency and process efficiency.
Industry Expertise: Provide technical input for projects involving balconies, balustrades, and other architectural metalwork.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs meet structural integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance standards.
Requirements
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience in structural steel and architectural metalwork design, particularly with balconies, balustrades, and complex structures.
Leadership Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop multidisciplinary teams, including steel detailers and engineers.
Software Proficiency:
Expertise in Tekla Structures and other relevant design tools.
Communication:
Exceptional communication skills for managing client relationships and coordinating with internal and external teams.
Experience:
