What the job involves In your role as a Business Support Assistant within the Environment Department's Business Support & Performance Division, you are responsible for delivering a wide range of business support functions efficiently and effectively to meet departmental objectives, adhering to financial regulations and policies. Key responsibilities include providing financial and administrative support, processing creditor and debtor payments in compliance with financial regulations, and ensuring the timely updating of staff personnel records, including payroll and absences. You maintain systems that meet audit requirements, prepare management information reports as needed, and consistently update computer systems for accurate and prompt information. The role requires reviewing, analyzing, and processing job and costing information, liaising with contractors and clients, advising managers on process improvements, monitoring departmental communications, and managing telephone calls to provide high-quality customer support. You perform general administrative duties, support line managers upon request, and are accountable to a Business Support Officer. This office-based role requires a 37-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, efficiently processing high volumes of payments, and adapting flexibly to the evolving needs of the service.
