About the role
As part of the daily responsibilities, the individual ensures seamless communication and coordination with the Operations Manager and other relevant parties to manage delays, cancellations, and schedule changes. Additionally, they manage the allocation of passengers and freight to maximise vessel capacity and prepare the "voyage envelope" in compliance with MCA requirements and company policies. The role also involves maintaining confidentiality regarding passenger information and assisting the Operations Supervisor(s) with tasks such as compiling accurate statistics for timely submission to relevant stakeholders.
You will be responsible for:
* Ensuring a positive travel experience for passengers whilst maintaining smooth operations.
* Managing passenger allocations effectively and balancing with freight.
* Supporting operational planning by monitoring vessel capacity utilisation.
* Monitoring and maintaining the accuracy of operational systems, including check-in data and shipping manifests.
* Collaborating with local authorities, customs, and immigration to ensure efficient operational processes.
* Overseeing the stowage and documentation of hazardous cargo, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.

The ideal candidate for this role must be a strong leader, able to manage their team of people, capable of making quick, effective decisions under pressure while maintaining composure and focus in high-stakes situations. With experience in passenger ferry, logistics, operations, or a fast-paced environment, they should possess a solid understanding of health and safety protocols. A proactive problem-solver, they will thrive on tackling challenges efficiently and managing shifting priorities during busy periods. Clear and confident communication is essential for liaising with teams, clients, and stakeholders effectively.
You should value collaboration while being capable of working independently when needed, bringing energy and motivation to keep the team inspired. To succeed as a Duty Operations Manager, the candidate must effectively manage capacity to optimise vessel utilisation, where full training will be provided. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential to enable you to adapt to using Seabook and Phoenix systems for handling passenger and freight bookings. Experience with handling customer accounts and MCA requirements ensuring accurate records and compliance with shipping manifests is required. A strong understanding of the IMDG code is crucial for safely managing hazardous cargo.
