Your new role
The institution is seeking a skilled Part-Time Board Clerk to support its governance functions, working closely with the Executive Team and Board members. The elected clerk will provide guidance and expert advice on governance procedures, reporting directly to the Chair. The role involves coordinating and scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing agendas and documentation, recording minutes, and following up on action items. The clerk will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, maintain governance best practices, and manage board records securely. The position is part-time, one day per week (Thursday), whereby an office presence is required on their South East London/ North Kent campus.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate should have proven experience as a Chartered Secretary and Board Clerk in the higher education sector, with familiarity in governance structures, board operations, and regulatory frameworks. They should possess strong IT skills for document management, meeting scheduling, and communication, and be proficient or willing to learn board management software. Key personal attributes include being highly organised, detail-oriented, strong in communication, proactive, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
