Manheim Vehicle Solutions is an evolving business supporting customer de-fleet and handover services within the motor industry on behalf of vehicle manufacturers, leasing companies & motor organisations.
Overseeing the large mechanical/technical workshop you will plan the daily work schedules for the mechanical technicians, managing timelines, priorities & workloads accordingly.
Scope of Role:
Reporting to the technical manager, key objectives a workshop controller will have in their role includes ensuring quality control of the mechanical workshop, daily management of the mechanical technicians & workload, parts are correctly ordered, conducting audits on the team’s work and general compliance. There will also be a focus on ensuring the correct health and safety standards/procedures.
Objectives for Role:
* Daily Management and coaching a team of vehicle technicians and apprentices, making sure targets and business objectives are met.
* Working with colleagues and other departments to ensure a seamless service for customers
* Scheduling work to meet customer needs, taking into account workshop targets, the complexity of each job and the availability of parts.
* Providing estimates for servicing and repairs and setting timescales
* Managing technician time and writing technical reports and recommendations.
* Assisting technicians with technical challenges to identify solutions
* Liaison with the parts department.
* Ensuring standards are adhered to.
* Liaising with other departments with regards to any queries as the workshop representative.
* Making sure all servicing work is carried out correctly, competently and on time, with customer satisfaction in mind.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
* To have a basic knowledge of HSE legislation.
* Must have strong communication skills, communicating effectively with colleagues and giving clear instructions where appropriate.
* Able to demonstrate good time management with the ability to prioritise the workload and work to deadlines.
* Able to cope well under pressure in a very busy atmosphere whilst ensuring attention to detail is maintained at all times.
* People Management experience.
* Mechanical Knowledge is desirable, with strong attention to detail.
* IMI Level 3 qualification or Time Serve Qualification is desirable.
* Strong planning and organisational skills, to plan daily work schedules, to manage timelines and prioritise workloads accordingly.
