Key Duties and Responsibilities: Work one-to-one or in small groups with students who require additional support, including those with special educational needs (SEN) or learning difficulties. Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring all students are engaged and able to access the curriculum. Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment by offering academic, emotional, and social support. Provide support with literacy, numeracy, and subject-specific tasks, adapting materials where necessary to meet the needs of individual students. Encourage student independence by fostering good learning habits and self-confidence. Liaise with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and parents/carers to track and report on student progress. Support classroom behaviour management and ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times. Requirements: A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. A degree is highly desirable, particularly for graduates looking to enter the teaching profession. Previous experience working with children or young people, especially in an educational or support role, is an advantage. Empathy, patience, and a passion for working with students of all abilities. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Adaptability and resilience in handling diverse situations in the classroom. An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
