A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Vision Science and Imaging Department for a trained Ophthalmic and Vision Scientist. This is an exciting time to join this expanding service as it seeks to further develop its well-established and nationally renowned hub (BEH) and bespoke (outreach sites) service delivery model.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team comprising of Consultants, specialty and Trust grade Doctors, Fellows, specialty trainees, Nurse Practitioners, Orthoptists, Optometrists and a substantial team of Ophthalmic Nurses, Technicians and Healthcare assistants.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Ophthalmic Imaging and Outpatient Department for the provision and overall smooth running of our clinical services. This will involve data entry, eyesight testing, and capturing retinal and corneal imaging using many different techniques for Doctor led and Virtual clinics.
After the necessary training and induction, the post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient maintenance of a comprehensive angiography, imaging and photography service to Bristol Eye Hospital. They should be able to prioritise and plan their own workload, and have the ability to work independently as well as working closely and supervising other members of the team.
As a key member of the Imaging team you will be required to attend both Bristol Eye Hospital and the BEH Diagnostic HUB as well as other sites if necessary to deliver clinical care. Willingness to travel is therefore required. The core hours are Monday to Friday however there must be some flexibility to provide service across the whole week if required.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
1. Extensive experience of Ophthalmic and Vision Science

2. Educated to degree level preferably in a Bio-medical Science
3. At least one A level in a science subject Grade C or above

5. Working Knowledge of Ophthalmic Imaging Techniques
