The Board Secretariat Team sits within the Permanent Secretaries Private Office, supporting the Department for Transport (DfT) Board and its sub-committees to ensure that the Department is run effectively, manages risk, and delivers on its key objectives, so this a great opportunity to join a team that is in the unique position of overseeing the key decisions and discussions taking place at the highest level in the Department.
As such, the role is exciting and fast-paced, and you will work closely with senior officials including the Permanent Secretaries, Directors General, Non-Executive Board Members, and Directors across the whole of the DfT family to develop a good overview of the Department’s work and the challenges it faces.
You will work closely with two G7 Board Secretariat leads, two other SEO Board Secretaries and one EO Assistant Board Secretary to deliver an excellent service to the Department.
Responsibilities
Key accountabilities of the role include:
* You will lead the delivery of a selection of the Department’s key Committee meetings, ensuring a robust and strategic forward plan is developed and delivered for these meetings.
* You will work with the team to ensure actions logs are kept up to date and that teams are coming to Committees prepared and at the right time.
* The post holder will be encouraged to continually improve, innovate and provide efficient and effective meetings, incorporating feedback from a wide range of stakeholders.
* You will be required to lead on the quality assurance of Committee papers, and ensure that correct assurances have been sought, challenging paper authors where necessary.
* You will provide support to the wider Board Secretariat Team, particularly the other Board Secretary's, who you would be expected to work closely with, and should be prepared to support other areas and other sub-committee meetings as required.
