Based at North Devon District Hospital this is an exciting time to join the Medicine Care Group as we continue our journey integrating services across the wider organisation. The portfolio of work for this role will include overseeing the Healthcare for the older person wards and our stroke unit which provides care for patients in both the acute and rehabilitation phases of their stroke. Along with ward level oversight you will line manage and support a number of speciality driven clinical nurse specialists that will feed into the divisional clinical strategy and the governance structure. You will be expected to work in partnership with the other matrons in the Care Group and across the organisation to support delivery of the quality agenda.
If successful in application you will be an integral member of the divisions management team and the senior nursing team, developing a clear nursing vision for our patients and staff. On a rotational basis you will be part of Clinical Matron rota covering a Duty Matron role giving the opportunity to support all acute teams across the Trust. This will involve the occasional weekend shift.
You will also have the opportunity to expand your operational management through the out of hours by joining the silver command duty manager rota providing support and guidance for the Clinical Site Managers. By coming to work for us we can offer you a supportive forward thinking environment, there will be plenty of opportunities to further develop your nursing career and strengthen styles of leadership whilst gaining experience of being a Clinical Matron.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You must have the ability to work under pressure and be interested in personal development of leadership skills.
The post will be based solely in North Devon District Hospital.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
