Marley Contract Services (MCS) is a roofing contractor operating in Scotland, specialising in pitched roofing applications including Solar PV panels. MCS has a workforce of up to 80 with a small office team of around 7 who are based at our office in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.

Right now we're seeking a detail orientated, number loving individual to take the role of Operational Accountant in our team at Bishopbriggs.

So, whats the role?
Are you a numbers whiz with a passion for driving financial performance?
This role is your chance to make a significant impact by providing vital financial insights and operational analysis.
You'll be the go-to person for preparing and presenting accounts, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring everything runs like a well-oiled machine.
Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations, collaborating with commercial and contract managers to optimize our business practices.
1. Collaborate: Provide dynamic financial insights to drive performance and strategic decision-making.
2. Lead Financial Operations: Take charge of MCS accounts, forecasts, and annual budgets.
3. Master Product Costs: Ensure precise calculation and maintenance of all product costs.
4. Spearhead Budget Coordination: Orchestrate the annual budget process, meeting all critical deadlines.
5. Innovate for Efficiency: Identify and implement cutting-edge cost-saving opportunities.
6. Oversee Assets: Manage the Plant fixed asset register with meticulous attention
7. Deliver Timely Reports: Compile accurate month and year-end financial information.
8. Manage Ledgers: Ensure flawless General Ledger reconciliations and period-end routines.
9. Analyse Performance: Provide insightful reports on weekly and monthly Sales & Margins.
10. Support Dynamic Needs: Conduct diverse ad hoc analyses to bolster business initiatives.
11. Drive Continuous Improvement: Seek innovative ways to add value and enhance efficiency.
12. Support Payroll Systems: Assist the office team in maintaining seamless payroll operations.
What skills are required?
13. Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified /part-qualified are desirable but not essential we are willing to train someone on the job.
14. Experience: Construction industry experience is a plus but definitely not a must.
15. Tech-Savvy: Mastery of SAGE accounting software.
16. Detail-Oriented: Thrives in a fast-paced environment without compromising on accuracy.
17. People Skills: Excellent communication and customer service abilities, people management experience is not essential but is advantageous
18. Discreet & Judicious: Demonstrates excellent judgment, adaptability, and versatility.
19. Independent Operator: Proactive with a strong initiative.
20. Tax Knowledge: Familiar with VAT, CIS, and payroll taxes.
