Job Description The Small Arms Maintainer (Armourer) is part of the GDA, under the line management of the Gunnery Officer, and a sub-department of the Executive Team at RNAS Culdrose, The Small Arms Maintainer (Armourer) is responsible to the I/C of the Small Arms Workshop for the servicing and maintenance of all service weapons IAW relevant Army Equipment Support Regulations (AESP). Responsibilities The Small Arms Maintainer (Armourer) is responsible for signing all servicing documents, planned maintenance documents and rescheduling maintenance as required. Ensuring that all Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to at all times. Responsible for the security of the weapons in a normal working day. Annually prepare all service weapons and equipment for Small Arms Inspection and rectify all defects. Maintain the serviceability of the workshop. Check all returning service weapons and equipment for cleanliness and serviceability. Prepare all weapons ready for issue outside of working hours as required. Ensure strict observance of safety precautions when handling small arms. Ensure of receipt of weapons from RNAD, receipt checks are carried out and signed for and subsequent paperwork is raised for weapon returns. Provide advice and assistance as required to all Culdrose based and deploying units on small arms maintenance and servicing schedules. Provide support to the Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear Defence Officer (CBRNDO) as required to support surge capacity within the CBRND Section. Person specification It is highly desirable that the candidate has a Small Arms Weapon Engineering background (WE) Senior Rate or equivalent and holds the S719B (Advanced Small Arms Maintenance) qualification.
