Site Agent - Civil Engineering - Preston
Role:
We are recruiting for a Site Agent to join our North West UK Civil Engineering Division. Projects will range in value from £1-5 million within the North West region. As Site Agent, you will be responsible for overall day-to-day supervision of the construction on site. You will monitor the preparation of the site prior to project launch and oversee the safe and efficient operation of the site throughout the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities as Site Agent:
1. Participates in compiling the initial programme and has a full awareness of weekly targets.
2. Plans and oversees the site setup, ensuring that the appropriate facilities are in place prior to the project launch.
3. Manages the relationship with the sub-contractors while working onsite.
4. Takes ownership for ensuring that HSEQS protocols are adhered to on sites at all times.
5. Maintains quality control procedures at all times.
6. Ensures that the TWR is in place and is up to date.
7. Is responsible for ensuring an efficient registration system is in place to monitor all individuals entering and leaving the site.
8. Flags any issues with the Contract Management/Commercial Teams, which have the potential to impact the effective delivery of the project (e.g., materials, works schedules, resources, H&S matters, or issues relating to cost or delivery schedule).
9. Drives the pace of the project and plans the work in the field.
10. Coordinates and prioritizes the sequence of activities on site.
11. Manages a team of foremen and other site staff.
12. Ensures that all employees adhere to appropriate protocols in the event of an incident onsite.
13. Able to relate company commercial strategy to own activities.
14. Operates the site on a holistic 'cradle to grave' project management approach.
15. Communicates the site requirements to the commercial team and achieves the most economical reasonable solution bearing in mind commercial constraints.
16. Drives the project programme.
17. Delegates responsibilities to suitable site staff.
18. Manages information and records of relevant contemporaneous records.
19. Follows the PEP as a means of ensuring that work is carried out on time and on budget.
Experience & Skills as Site Agent:
1. Strong People Management experience.
2. Knowledge of good industrial relations practices.
3. Ability to deal with conflicting priorities and difficult stakeholders, particularly sub-contractors.
4. Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a warm and persuasive way both formally and informally and able to alter style and method to suit the audience.
5. Can build consensus.
6. Strong people skills and able to manage a variety of subcontractor supervision.
7. Experience of leading others and track record of delivering medium to large scale projects.
8. Ability to prioritize and make prompt decisions in the interests of the project.
9. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all the trades required on site, codes of practice relating to them, and their specific requirements.
10. Experience building credibility with contractors by treating them with respect.
