Healthcare Science Practitioner (Nuclear Medicine Data and Quality)

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic scientist with skills in data management and analytics to join the Scientific and Technical team within the Nuclear Medicine Service at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.
The department of Nuclear Medicine is part of the Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering service and has close academic links with the neighbouring Swansea University. It is a busy seafront department which offers a range of diagnostic investigations and radionuclide therapies. The Scientific and Technical team provide scientific and technical support to both the Singleton Hospital site and to Radiology based Nuclear Medicine rooms within Swansea Bay, Hywel Dda and Cwm Taf University Health Boards.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit to the post of Healthcare Science Practitioner with a focus on clinical data management and analytics for quality improvement of Nuclear Medicine services. The post holder will support the use and development of digital tools in scientific and technical Nuclear Medicine services and provide training resources for M.Sc. students at Swansea University.
Job responsibilities
1. Supporting the provision of comprehensive information for nuclear medicine service output reporting, improvement projects and quality governance, involving complex analysis and interpretation of data.
2. Supporting the specification, design and development of datasets, data collection, databases, analysis and reporting solutions, utilising technologies such as Visual Basic, Python, Power BI, and Microsoft Office products.
3. Undertaking statistical analysis of trends, incorporating various information sources.
4. Seeking innovative ways of using technology to support service redesign and streamlining.
5. Interpreting and determining information needs and developing new methods of using information flows to meet these requirements.
6. Supporting the team in the development of information systems relating to capacity and demand planning and data modelling projects.
7. Supporting colleagues in the production of routine operational data requirements and ad hoc information requests.
8. Following change control procedures in the production and quality assurance of data generation.
9. Participating in the evaluation and utilisation of data and information within patient and data management systems.
10. Supporting the development of lecture and presentation materials using tools such as PowerPoint and Canva.
11. Keeping up to date with legislation in relation to data protection, Caldicott principles, confidentiality, Human Rights Act, and Freedom of Information Act.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Degree Level or equivalent experience with evidence of further development and/or education and training.
Experience
* Experience of working autonomously, within an information environment, collecting and interpreting information to support change programmes, and with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Skills
* Excellent IT and analytical skills with knowledge of BI technologies, SQL, and MS Office.
* Ability to interpret and advise on complex informatics concepts, including statistical analysis of information.
* Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality work in demanding timescales.
* Able to develop and maintain effective team working and relationships.
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable (levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh).
