Exciting opportunities have arisen for a band 5 Speech and Language Therapist within our Community Learning Disability Team.
You will be working with a supportive and experienced multi disciplinary team of Nurses, Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists and Vision and Hearing specialists, alongside social care staff and partner organisations. You will be part of a team working with Adults with a Learning Disability and complex/ multi-disciplinary needs. You will be working in a variety of community settings and manage a mixed caseload supporting both communication and dysphagia needs and people who are at risk of or awaiting discharge from acute or inpatient mental health hospitals.
We are looking for someone with an enthusiasm for working with people with a learning disability. You will have excellent communication and inter-personal skills and you will demonstrate an ability to be flexible in how you engage and support the people who use our service. You will work alongside other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that you are working in a holistic way and keeping the person at the centre of your clinical practice.
The post holder will provide speech and language therapy assessment and
intervention to adults with a learning disability who are referred to the South Kent Coast and Thanet community LD team. As a Speech and Language Therapist within the Learning Disability Team you will be expected to provide evidence-based, autonomous and effective Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention for people who have a learning disability who may also have additional physical and mental health needs. You will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and give clinical advice and support to other professionals, support workers and the clients' care networks.
You will supervise the work of our speech and language therapy associate practitioners. Caseload allocation along with clinical roles and responsibilities will be commensurate with the post banding for successful candidates.
We're interested in meeting clinicians who have the right values and passion, and are also looking for candidates who are excited about the opportunity to undertake training and development in clinical areas that they may be less experienced in, including dysphagia.
