Children’s Senior Social Worker

This role is for a Court Team responsible for managing cases whereby children are subject to care proceedings. Experience of court work is essential.
The Senior Social Worker will provide a high-quality and comprehensive social work service to children and young people, their families, and carers in line with the policies and procedures of the Children and Young People’s Directorate and within regulatory and statutory guidelines, the Knowledge and Skills Statement for Child and Family Work, and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Practice.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Contributing to a wide range of statutory social work activities and carrying out professional social work tasks in accordance with recognised social work procedures, Signs of Safety, evidence-based practice, and professional social work ethics.
2. Managing a caseload of higher levels of complexity, including assessment of needs and management of risk regarding children, young people, their families, and carers.
3. Maintaining and updating case notes and other records, writing reports as required, and giving evidence in court related to care or other proceedings.
4. Providing casework advice, support, and guidance to other team members.
5. Contributing to the planning and development of future services and policies while promoting innovative ways of developing support to service users.
6. Supervising students and developing the practice learning setting, including providing support and guidance to newly qualified social workers within the team as required.
