We are growing our Head Office Data team at Pavers and have an opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our Head Office Team, based at Northminster Business Park, York. This role is offered as a full-time permanent opportunity in a growing business where you are encouraged to develop your skills in a supportive environment.
Our Data Engineering & Analytics Team have a key role to play in the business’s operations, and as a Data Analyst, you will deliver actionable insights from large datasets to drive strategic decision-making and support improvement in operational efficiencies across all departments within Pavers. The business is continually growing and evolving, moving at a fast pace, and good quality insightful data is key to ensuring this continues.
You’ll report into the Data Engineering Manager in the growing Data Engineering & Analytics Team. Your main responsibility will be to deliver analytics and insights to stakeholders, extracting data from our Enterprise Data Hub in Snowflake, and using Tableau to visualise these.
The role encompasses maintaining and enhancing existing reports and dashboards as well as working on business prioritised projects in line with our data strategy. The role will suit an individual who has an analytical mindset, high attention to detail, and is keen to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Main duties of our Data Analyst
* Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
* Organising and transforming information into comprehensible structures
* Using data to predict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole
* Performing statistical analysis of data
* Using tools and techniques to visualise data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
* Preparing reports and presenting these to management and stakeholders
* Actively improve your data analyst skills increasing your mastery level of our stack
* Play a proactive part in owning your team’s services, taking responsibility for support, monitoring, measuring performance and addressing technical issues when required
* Contribute enthusiastically to our continuous improvement of coding practices, application quality, tooling and agile processes
* Communicate constructively with peers, seniors and stakeholders in all settings
* Continuously evaluate team’s processes and procedures to maintain a positive and efficient culture
* Perform well-defined data analyst tasks in a reasonable amount of time; doesn’t get caught up in the unknown; works to figure it out
* Actively embrace challenges, particularly when they offer the potential to create significant impact or value
* Endeavour to become an expert in at least one area or domain.
* Create and maintain quality documentation for any project you have worked on, when required, ensuring maintainability, readability and testability
* Conduct code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing sessions, embracing feedback at every step
* Help grow the Data Team’s community presence throughout the business, so stakeholders see the Team as an enabler for their role, aiding them to make data driven decisions
* Works effectively with other teams across the business, ensuring plans are timely and accurate
* Identifying and recommending new ways to save money by streamlining business processes
* Monitoring data quality and removing corrupt data
* Communicating with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
What you’ll need to have to be our Data Analyst
* Ability to write SQL to an efficient standard
* A good working knowledge of mathematics and statistics
* Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical analysis and data visualisation tools. (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Sisense)
* Some understanding of Data Engineering or Software Engineering practices are ideal as you will be working with an Enterprise Data Hub
* A minimum of 2 years Data Analyst or reporting analyst experience is preferred
* Some understanding or experience working with cloud computing technologies would be beneficial
* An understanding of one or more business verticals
* Experience of working on data analyst concepts e.g., modelling, prediction of trends, making data visual so that stakeholders do not have to take an extract of data and do their own dashboards/skunk BI
* Experience implementing best practices around data and reporting
* Effective Communicator
