Perthcelyn Community Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Family Engagement Officer to work as part of our team.
The post holder will work closely with pupils, parents, carers, and school staff to promote strong relationships between home and school.
The role aims to support families in overcoming barriers to engagement, ensuring all pupils achieve their full potential.
The officer will foster an inclusive, welcoming environment, encourage parental involvement in their child's education, and support the school’s objectives in raising attainment and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
● Act as a key point of contact for parents and carers, providing advice, guidance, and support.
● Establish and maintain trust-based relationships with families to encourage engagement in school activities.
● Work with parents and carers to identify and address barriers to their child’s learning or attendance.
● Develop and deliver workshops, events, and activities that encourage parental involvement in their child’s education.
● Support parents/carers in understanding the school curriculum and provide tools to help them support their child at home.
● Organise and promote family engagement initiatives, such as parent forums, coffee mornings, or homework support sessions.
● Work collaboratively with staff to monitor pupil attendance and punctuality, identifying concerns and working with families to resolve issues.
● Provide direct support to families experiencing challenges, signposting them to external agencies where necessary.
● Liaise with local authorities and community organisations to provide holistic support for families.
● Act as a bridge between school and home, ensuring effective communication of school policies, events, and updates.
● Collaborate with school staff to ensure a coordinated approach to family engagement.
● Maintain accurate records of interactions with families and provide regular reports to the Headteacher and whole staff team.
● Be alert to safeguarding concerns and follow the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of all pupils.
● Participate in safeguarding training and work closely with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.PROTECTING CHILDREN AND ADULTS AT RISK IS A CORE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SCHOOL AND COUNCIL. IN ADDITION TO THIS SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITY, THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT FOR THE ROLE WILL ALSO BE SUBJECT TO AN ENHANCED DISCLOSURE AND BARRING SERVICE CHECK.
