The post will be an integral part of the Trauma and Orthopaedics secretarial team providing a comprehensive support service to the medical secretaries and clinical teams, including, but not limited to: dealing with enquiries, correspondence, filing, uploading dictation and providing an efficient typing service to the division in support of the work of Consultants and other Clinical Staff and the Clinical Lead to maximise patient care.
The following isnotan exhaustive list but provides an indication of the core tasks.
Typing, on a daily basis, clinics, letters, reports, and other patient related documentation. Ensure that all work leaving the department is of the highest quality in terms of presentation and layout and is dispatched within agreed timescales.
1. File tests and loose histories regularly as appropriate.
2. Typing completed within the agreed timescales for any agreed specialties
3. Retrieve, log and return case notes / medical records and ensure that they are processed in accordance with Trust policy (“Case note tracking” and “Filling in Case notes”).
4. To undertake administrative, clerical duties as required.
5. Update and maintain a working knowledge of hospital systems so that enquiries can be dealt with efficiently.

6. Participate in regular meetings and will be actively involved in generating ideas for service improvement.

8. Other duties and responsibilities of the post will be flexible and will be reviewed by the Operational Support Manager.
