Job Title: CCTV and Telecare Operator Location: Medway Reports to: Control Centre Team Leader Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £24,764.70 per annum Schedule: Rotating shifts covering 24/7 - 365 days (4 days on, 4 days off) Key Responsibilities: Assistive Technology Monitoring: Monitor and respond to assistive technology calls, ensuring all interactions are accurately logged. Offer reassurance to vulnerable individuals (e.g., elderly, disabled) and coordinate necessary assistance from emergency services or family members. Conduct routine equipment tests and report any technical issues to the appropriate manager promptly. CCTV Monitoring: Actively monitor public and commercial CCTV systems, identifying suspicious activity or potential security threats. Take manual control of cameras as required, document incidents, and escalate issues to the relevant authorities. Respond to inquiries from authorised personnel while adhering to Home Office guidelines and Code of Practice. Emergency Call Handling: Manage emergency calls from Council Out of Hours services, following established protocols and documenting actions taken. Coordinate emergency responses in collaboration with external agencies. Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the Control Centre Team Leader or Customer Delivery Manager. Essential Criteria: Strong interest in assistive technology for independent living. Genuine passion for helping vulnerable individuals, including those with disabilities, health issues, or the elderly. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks or interruptions simultaneously. Excellent communication skills to handle sensitive situations and convey complex information effectively. Ability to work autonomously and make decisions based on established protocols without immediate supervision. Experience and Qualifications: Essential: General education, including GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent). Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions. Good coordination and dexterity in managing CCTV systems and computer-based tasks. Must pass Non-Police Police Vetting Level 1 and an enhanced DBS check. Desirable: SIA license for CCTV operations. Experience in monitoring CCTV systems, with an understanding of data protection and public space surveillance regulations. Background in caring roles, such as needs assessments or care planning. Skills: Proficient in ICT and assistive technologies. Excellent time management and the ability to meet strict deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure situations. Proven ability to collaborate with internal teams and external agencies, including emergency services and local councils.
